Casablanca and Istanbul Lead in Urban Pedestrians

These cities are putting their best foot forward in having the most trips made via walking.

While new tech like autonomous and electric vehicles have captured the spotlight, old-fashioned walking is key to a proficient mobility network. Cities from London to Bogota are expanding pathways to encourage walking and biking.

In our Urban Mobility Readiness Index, we view more walking as a step in the right direction toward diversified, green mobility. The cities doing so typically have high scores in our index. Half of the cities listed in the chart below – Hong Kong, Paris, Berlin, Helsinki, and Stockholm – land in the overall top 10 of our index.
